I have come up with a list of items that warrant practicing each week to prepare for an uncertain economical or governmental future. It isn’t being pessimistic to actually WANT to and look forward to being able to be more self-sustaining and out of debt. It is prudent in our time. This list below is...

I know how you feel. Just take a deep breathe and compartmentalize.....it can be very overwhelming at first. That's one reason I found the easy open buckets for my home were because people were telling me that for a year's supply I had to vacuum pack and re-vacuum pack etc...It drove me nuts...

My pantry is the closet in the spare bedroom. The shelves are those black steel wire shelves. There are 2 of them sitting at right angles to each other. Large seldom used appliances like the turkey roaster sit on the bottom shelves in the corners. I have homemade mixes, some flours, sugar and other frequently...

I don't like to have to search for different lids for different containers. I might have to look at that post. I like to use canning jars and jelly jars for storage, because all of the lids and bands fit on all jars (except for widemouth jars). Belle

Either way, it doesn't matter if you live in the country...

My last post was hoping to see how very far I could stretch my $115 in groceries for our family of five (all adult eaters). This fun frugal challenge, however, came to an abrupt end when my husband took us on a switch in direction. We are now re-stocking our 6-8 month pantry. Why? and How? You may ask...

I recently switched my children from disposable diapers to cloth diapers. I needed a bucket to put the soiled diapers into, with a baking soda/water solution until there was enough for a full wash load. I phoned my local bakery to ask if they had a bucket I could have. To my suprise, the baker had over...

Hi all, We're cleaning out the barn, etc and after 5 year I'm finally ready to buy some new rubbermaid roughneck storage totes- 18 gallon. John stopped by Shopco where we used to get them and he couldn't find them- only those awful sterilite ones that almost break when you blink. I saw them...
