• Cheap pillows if you crochet or knit

I found a great way to use old yarn if you knit or crochet. It always bothered me to throw away all those scraps of yarn that you cut off after weaving in ends or just cut off as leftovers. I finally came up with the idea of saving them in a bag, which hangs on the back of my chair. If there are long...

  • Re: Craft Projects for Christmas 2009 - what are you making?
Another thing I like to make is beautiful little stitch markers for knitting and crochet. Same concept, only using larger jump rings as the base and sometimes premaid charms to add a little more interest.
I love these! I made several of the myself using Swarovski...

  • Re: Looking for amigurumi knit patterns

Looks-wise I would prefer the knit because of the smoother texture, finer texture. However working knit compared to crochet - crochet is faster, easier to work the shaping. I've never made one, though. Edey

  • Have You Made Sock Mocassins - Or Mukluks?

When we were kids we had slippers that were like a combination of knee socks and mocassins and we called them mukluks. The leg portion and instep were knitted or crocheted, but the sole was leather stitched to the sock portion, with short sides on the sole wrapping around the foot. Has anyone here made...

  • Re: button jars

Great Way to Recycle Those Unused Buttons! Ever wonder what to do with the "stuff" that is left-over when you finish an art project. Stuff like yarn, felt, colorful buttons , beads, colored pencils, paper scraps with interesting designs, fabric - those things just a bit too small to use. Well...

  • Ravelry~ A Knit and Crochet Community

I thought I would spread the news, there is a really great organizational social site for knitters and crocheters called Ravelry. It has a notebook feature to help you organize you projects, yarn, needles/hooks, and has groups in it. Is anyone here a member already? My user name is "avidwisher"...

  • Do you knit or crochet? How does it benefit you and your family?

I accidentally hijacked a thread applauding Hobby Lobby. I really really enjoy going there. To the point that my internal financial adviser often forgoes going to that store to avoid temptation. The reason I hijacked it is because I was really happy with the deals at Smiley's Yarn. Pat mentioned...

  • Re: Yarn and homecrafts

I've done that before. Look for items that are hand made. Factory made knit garments are cut and sewn, so you'd come up with a lot of short pieces of yarn. Once you've unraveled the piece, wind the yarn on a chair back or someone else's willing arms, then tie it in several places and...
