I'm envious, I love garlic! You don't need to cook it first to freeze it. You can freeze it whole, then break off cloves as needed or you can chop and freeze it that way (raw). Or you can puree it in oil and freeze it. I like the puree because it doesn't freeze solid and you can just scrape...
