  • Homemade Bread

I've found a simple recipe for homemade bread. It's a cool rise, wet dough recipe. I found it on Mother Earth News. They market it as 5min a day bread. NOT!!!! BUT, it is easy! lol.... You make the dough, then it can keep in your fridge for up to 2 weeks. I had to make mine in a very large plastic...

  • Whole grain dinner rolls (no kneading!)

This is a nice and easy recipe, because it doesn't need any kneading. When I've tried to make bread, the kneading step is where I always mess it up and the dough gets too tough and dries out. This is a thinner sticky dough, and the rolls come out lookingmore rustic than with a traditional recipe...

  • Re: What things do you make that you used to buy???

Hi Julie, I have a bread maker that I use frequently but like you don't like the shape of the bread. I just set the bread maker to the "dough" cyle and then take the dough out and raise and bake in regular bread pans in the oven. Works great for me. Sammie

We also gave away our food storage when we moved and planned on just starting over with most things. It took a while to know the sales cycle and find...

  • Re: How much do you spend a month on groceries?

Just read through the other posts, I have a budget of $100 a week for stuff- food, soap, diapers, etc for our family of ten. So $400 a month. But I also will "splurge" and stock up every now and again for food storage. We'll go and buy a couple of hundred dollars worth of staples. If my...
