  • Have You Heard of the New Dora Doll?

It's just amazing how sophisticated toys are getting! This doll seems like it would deliver a lot of play value. A lot of our dolls just sit around but I don't think this one will. There’s a new Dora Links doll that connects to the Internet via a USB cable. But that’s not the coolest part. The...

  • So excited - embroidery sewing machine arrives tomorrow !!

I'm so jumpy today ! Last week, Beloved Hubby had a windfall, and we took care of a lot of stuff. And we still had funds left over for fun ! I sew doll clothes for a hobby, and go to yard sales and thrift stores for thrills, and as a result, my 'Lab' (combined doll studio and sewing room...

I went to JoAnn last night since the current flyer has about a dozen 40% off coupons for different things. While there, I perused the remnant bins and found a thin terrycloth remnant, so will be making some towels! I also found a small piece of a patterned plastic, which will be good for a shower curtain...

Gayla, the dolls' house that your DH made is a perfect example of a multi-generational toy. Built with love and played with in the same way! I was looking at my handkerchiefs and pulled out a fine one with an all over pattern of roses. Not sure it will become a rug but you've got me thinking...

Babs, I had picked up some crocheted potholders and was thinking about using them, but they were a little too open. Instead, I picked up a crocheted doily which will become a tablecloth. I know lots of people sew them on pillows to make them a bit fancier, but dogs would probably chew them off. Better...

If I can find the right sized crochet hook, I will start with a potholder, which is only a tiny granny square. It calls for a 0.60 hook and I imagine that is the tiniest in the sets of crochet hooks. Found some larger ones this morning, and I have some very thin yarn on cones. Mind you, I have not crocheted...

[quote user="Pat"] Now you're tempting me... if I had time, I'd like to have a dollhouse just for myself! However, with as many projects as I seem to have going continually, I don't really have time to work on it. I'd love to make tiny things and decorate one. I think I've...

Cardboard boxes are a good idea for recycling. Oh, I've also seen pieces of furniture that open and the house is constructed inside on the shelves. Wallpaper sample books, sometimes found at thrifts, have tiny patterns suitable for dollhouses.

Pat, I just got one of those pizza things a few days ago! I put it aside thinking it looked very much like the tile-topped nesting tables from several years ago! Also, medicine cups make wonderful wastebaskets! The little individual liquid creamers (different flavors come in different colors) look like...

  • Re: Dolls, their houses and furnishings

Some jewelry boxes make excellent chests or wardrobes for playscale, though a trifle deep. Decorative tealight or candle holders might become "urns" for potted plants. Inside magazines are usually reply post cards for that and other magazines, which can become doll-sized magazines. At Big Lots...
