But I can if I need to. I just got a big stash of yarn from an old repo-ed house that friends of our bought and they let us take anything we wanted since they'd already had a garage sale. I got some beautiful variated expensive looking yarn-about 3 skeins, and lots of odds and ends. I donated the odds and ends to a friend who makes hats for the homeless or for whoever is in need. I kept the nice kind but if I don't figure out something simple and good to do with it for Christmas- maybe a scarf- she'll get that too. I do crochet pot holders and I"m trying to teach my 8 yr old daughter how to crochet for when she's "bored". Her older sister made a great scarf last Christmas. I like that fisherman's knit look but crocheting is so much faster. About 20 years ago I saw a kit to make a fisherman's knit afgan but it was crocheted. I bought the yarn and started to teach myself the fancy stitches but lost patience. If anyone knows where I can get a good fisherman's "knit" crocheted pattern I'd love to finish my life long dream. I can still make beautiful baby blankets and little "things" -crafts. I was hoping to learn to spin back when we had llamas and cashmere goats. Then I could've been even more self sufficient. It's a great hobby and I look forward to making a few more things as almost all my kids are in school.

blessings,

joan of ark
