  • Re: Father's Day 2012

Father's Day is hard on me for another reason. I am lucky enough to still have my biological father, though we are not close. But the two men who meant the most to me and did most of my raising have passed on. They are my paternal great-grandfather and my maternal uncle. My home life wasn't the greatest and they made sure I felt loved and ...

  • Re: Making our own Baby Book. Suggestions?

Thank you, I didn't realize that they came in kits. And that is a good point that we can add and subtract from it as we see fit. Guess I will be hitting up Hobby Lobby and Jo-Anns to start looking. I was a single mom when our son was born too, his dad had a lot of issues at the time and wasn't ready to be a father. It made for ...

  • Re: Happy Purim!

Happy Purim, I always loved the story of Esther. Even though my Bestie is Jewish I am continually learning new things about the faith. What a lovely holiday. I'm going to have to teach my son this story next Mar 7th. What kind of costumes?

Very cute! How cheap do you think they can be made for? How are you making them?

  • Father's Day 2012

My son and I are putting together a list of songs we want to make into a playlist for his Dad for Father's Day. It will be put in a playlist on his computer and on a cd for him to listen to on the road (he is a trucker). We would love some suggestions. And here is the list we have pulled together so far: "Highway 20 Ride" Zac Brown ...

  • Re: Christmas 2012

Our son was literally so awful around the Christmas season, that SO bought a bag of real lump coal and put it under the tree from Santa. Which meant the gifts we had ready for Xmas stayed hid and are the start of our gift stockpile for next year. A real wooden castle with figurines, a couple of shirts, some books, a toy my aunt sent for him I ...

  • Re: Engagement survival kit

Glad you liked my idea, I wasn't sure after I posted if it you would think I was a nut for it. But I know that my SO and I love to laugh and always appreciate the oppurtunity to laugh especially during times of stress. If I think of anymore I will let you know.

  • Re: 2012 Crafting..share your ideas, projects, pictures..

Yeah he loves anything you can do with your hands and his dad has been very encouraging  about it too. And our little boy has turned out to be quite the daddy's boy, so anything daddy likes or is okay with is #1 with him too. But I'm happy that I passed on the knitting bug to him. Only issue has been I can't seem to show him what ...

  • Making our own Baby Book. Suggestions?

My SO and I were going through our son's store bought baby book last night and realized it didn't really suit our son or our family. We talked about getting another but then I had the thought of making our own baby book. Tailored to fit our unique family (we are happily commited and happily unmarried) and, as he pointed out, something we ...

  • Re: 2012 Crafting..share your ideas, projects, pictures..

I have a baby blanket (my first) in the works, of spring green and lavender baby alpaca yarn. A sky blue stocking hat I'm knitting in the round (also my first) and have my straight needles ready to whip up some washclothes for me. I also am hoping to begin learning how to sew. My SO knows how and swears he can show me. My son has begun trying ...
