  • Re: Mustard Greens

Thanks everyone! I didn't really find the mustard greens too bitter once they were cooked, but I don't know if I'll be buying them again unless there's a really great sale... they were okay, but not something I'd look forward to eating again. I think next time I'll try the collard greens, and there's also Swiss Chard ...

  • Re: Need Some Advice, Please. I Want To Stop Wasting Food

I keep an electronic list of most things in my pantry, with the expiration dates by month and year. When I'm putting groceries away I bring my laptop into the kitchen and record things as I put them away. Then I make sure I check the list every couple of weeks to see what is running out soon and needs to be used up or donated. 6/09  ...

  • Re: Is Anyone Watching The Amazing Race ?

I love the Amazing Race! This season is on at a bad time for me though, so I haven't watched it lately. My dad and I have been talking about signing up for it- we think we'd be pretty good at it.

  • Re: Backyard Bird Watching, and other Critters

I don't have a backyard, but when I visit my parents I love watching the animals in their yard... they live in a pretty developed suburb, but there is a small patch of wooded area in the neighborood, plus a few ponds, and I guess they attract animals! They have a woodchuck living under a tree- at least that's what we think it is! ...

  • Mustard Greens

I got a big bunch of mustard greens on sale, and I've never cooked with them before, so I'm not sure what to do with them... I tried googling for recipes, but everything I could find involved frying them in bacon grease, and I need something healthier than that. I guess I could sautee them in olive oil, but does anyone have any different ...

  • Re: WHat can I do with outer leaves of romaine?

I throw my outer wilted lettuce leaves (and stems, etc) into my freezer bag of veggie scraps which gets made into broth. I don't know if it really adds anything, but I can't compost (I'm an apartment dweller) and at least I don't feel like it's going to waste.

  • Re: Insomnia

I've been having sleeping issues for years, so I know how it is! I mostly rely on herbal sleep aides, but I'm also in a different situation...  One of the best things for me is a super hot bath, plus fresh clean sheets on the bed. Darkness is supposed to trigger the body to sleep, so for a half hour before I try to sleep I turn as ...

  • Re: Do you pay attention?

I do if it's something I eat often... I did pay attention to the recent recalls on peanut products and pistachios, but kept eating the products I already had instead of throwing them away. Usually when there's a recall I ask my sister about it- she works in the testing lab of a company that contracts its services out to major food ...
