  • Re: The cost of crafting

My mother and I used to go to the holiday craft fairs every year, take notes on some "we can make that!" crafts - perhaps buy one example if we didn't think we'd remember the details, and then immediately head to the craft store to purchase what was needed.  I have literally hundreds of dollars of craft supplies now and how ...

  • Re: Does Anyone Have A Good Recipe for Making Cheese Balls ?

This is the one that I have always used  (I did try it once with the 8oz measurement and it seemed to turn out fine) Cheese Ball - recipe by my aunt, Margret EvansThe one unfortunate part about thisr ecipe is that I can no longer find "tubes" of cheese in the stores. And since that is the measurement for the cheeses in this ...

  • Re: Using orange juice

Thanks for the recipe - but I think you missed something.  1 orange juice?  Is that supposed to be one cup?

  • Using orange juice

I have quite a bit of orange juice that is about to ferment in my refrigerator .  Does anyone have any recipes that use copious amounts of orange juice?  I could just try and freeze it, but as I said I think it's about to "turn", so I'd rather cook or bake with it.

  • Re: Do You Have a Favorite Knitting Book - or Author?

Most of my patterns have been free/online. I do own a few books and magazines, but I can't say I have a favorite author or book. I have only crocheted for 5 years and am just learning to knit.  I'm learning Continental because I've heard that's easier for crocheters to learn.  I love learning new techniques, so now ...

  • Re: Colors of Yarn on the Internet

I recently started playing with threads.  When Joann.com had a sale I ordered a bunch (plus free shipping).  I decided to order "one of each" in several colors so that I knew what I would be ordering for future purchases.  I figure I should be able to get a small doily out of each of those balls, so it's not a ...

  • Re: Holiday Issue of a Magazine

I subscribe to TOH - although I doubt I'll receive the special Holiday Issue (I'm sure you have to buy that separately).  I'm interested in which crescent roll recipe that was - can you give the exact name?  I love crescent rolls, and I'm sure making your own would be healthier than buying the canned version. A lot of ...

  • Re: Turkey Italian sausage

I've made my own in the past if I'm just going to "fry" it up to use it in something like spaghetti.  If you don't want to figure out the spice ratio yourself, it might still be more cost effective to buy Italian seasoning and ground turkey breast. I know you talked about turkey, but I've done the same thing to ...

  • Re: Anyone use Open Office?

I used OO for a while - on the home computer when I didn't want to upgrade our Office suite.  If all you want is a simple word processor, spreadsheet or presentation software - OO works great!  Especially since you don't get the Powerpoint unless you get the higher leves of MS Office.  It saves documents in a different ...

  • Re: Wasting Money at the grocery store

I'm better at not picking up spontaneous items if I go with a COMPLETE list ... not just "oh, I need something for dinner this weekend". The grocery stores I shop at all have online ads, just in case I no longer have the weekend paper (plus some change their sales on Wed). Just like Luvd, I try and make a list of items we need and ...
