  • Re: God's Pharmacy

I never heard of this before. There is a lot of truth in the foods and herbs and sprices we eat (or don't eat) can protect us from illness, build the immune system, and help heal certain conditions. But I would think that there are many other foods besides say, tomatoes, that are good for the heart and not at all the same shape. Still, ...

  • Re: Building a winter wardrobe from scratch...ideas please!

A thought came to mind. If she ends up in the north (I am in Vermont, and the winters can be frigid)}, you might t take a look at the LL Bean catalogue. It gives data on what temperatures their clothing will protect you at.. And perhaps you'd get an idea of what she'll need. Just from my experience, there are some things I find ...

  • Re: My very sick service doggie, Heart

Dear Deb, It's such a trial when our pets are sick. How wonderful that you found out what is wrong. I believe that the pure-breds are often more prone to allergies. I's sure she'll be all better soon. Sometmes, I think our pets are reacting to all the chemicals we've put out, giving us notice. Re your other post: Your ...

  • How long will frozen strawberries keep in fridge?

  • Re: The Poverty Business

I know what you mean It doesn't have to be poor people, either. Some folks with quite a good income end up in the same boat. It irks me to see families on benefits who spend money on a lot of lottery tickets, alcohol and cigarettes, have several TV's...and can't afford to dress their kids for winter and end up going to food ...

  • Re: Best spaghetti sauce?

I'll try that, thank you! I do have a lot of stewed tomatoes in the freezer from garden, so I guess I should cook them down to make tomato sauce (?)

  • A tip on Brussel sprouts

I read this on a garden forum, and it's working. They said to strip off the leaves and cut off the very top of the Brussel sprout plants - the leaves are now taking the hourishment needed by the maturing sprouts. I did it, poor things look naked, but my sprouts are growing much faster. I've harvested maybe 10 pounds so far, and the ...

  • Re: Suddenly doubled my teenage boy population!

What a lovely and loving thing to do! These boys will doubtless remember you well. Especially since you're financially strapped, it must be a strain indeed. I find it pretty consistent that those of us with little are the first to reach out to help someone in need of food or financial help if we possibly can. Are they at all eligible ...

  • Re: The Training of Heart, My Psychiatric Service Dog

I am glad you found out, Deb. I'm allergic to anything with a fragrance. Heart has great wisdom to react that way to chemicals. All my 7 furries and I sent greetings to her and say to tell her that if she were to come to visit, they would make an exception to the no-dogs rule. I also wanted to ask you, Deb, just what the duties of a ...
