I would give Kitchenaid another chance. Have you contacted the company about your problem? I hear they are very customer friendly.
If you're not interested going that route, then I agree, Viking makes a sturdy, dependable stand mixer. Bobby Flay uses one on his show.

It sounds to me like you already know raw peppers freeze well. I just wash, seed, cut and freeze them. No blanching ...

My local grocery store is selling 1.5 lb. (24 ounces) frozen slabs of wild caught Alaskan salmon for $7.00.
I was considering buying one, but didn't know if that was a reasonable price.
I would probably get 3 to 4 meals out of that.
