  • Re: Pantry Challenge - your choice! November 14th to 21st, 2009

Sunday we had baked chicken and green beans from the freezer. We also had mac n chz (last box), potatoes, deviled eggs and crescents. I also made banana pudding. We had leftovers of that and added a can of peas monday night. Hopefully dh and ds1 will finish off the little bit left otherwise, they have been asked to put the chicken in the freezer ...

Last night we had leftover baked chicken, potatoes, green beans. I also made mac n chz and a can of peas. We had banana pudding for dessert. We still have mac n chz and some peas and a little chicken left. If dh and ds1 don't have it tonight I have asked them to pot the chicken in the freezer for salads and quesadillas. I think they are doing ...

  • Re: If You Could Tell Customers One Thing... What Advice Would You Offer?

As far as being a waitress, I would like to remind people that most servers are only paid just over $2 an hour and depend on tips. If service sucks, then no problem as far as not tipping, but please remember that a server's living is their tips. As far as being a volunteer (I work for the assistance center in town for my co-op for school) ...

  • Re: Giving up the Goats

Michelle, I know it is different, but when we lost Cocoa last month I was and still am devastated. The only moving on I have done is turn his food storage (rubbermaid tote) into storage for flour, sugar, etc. I figure he would want it used for food and since he doesn't need kibbles n bits anymore we need to use it for us. I am also using his ...

I'm in other than $35 to buy turkey and stuff tomorrow. I have to try to make room in the freezer for it, but I think it might fit.

  • Re: Are you a Black Friday Shopper?

I love shopping on black friday! I have not encountered any rude people yet. I think my thing is I  run about 30 minutes late after store opening on purpose so the crowds are already in and most times they are checking out if they onlly have an item or two. so by the time I get around, while busy, not too bad traffic wise. I also prepare ...

  • Re: would you do this? And do you think it's worth it?

I say YES! With her new situation, it is more important than ever that she feels supported. It is also important to teach her all the frugal tips you can, but do so in a loving way like this. Teaching her some frugality (not assuming she is a spendthrift, we all can learn more) and time savers will make life easier for her and your grandchild.

  • Re: November Food Shopping and Cooking

Martha, my co-op job for my degree is at our local pantry/crisis center. I have seen these people face to face and hear the struggles they have. I am looking forward to the holidays because the pantry will get alot of food because of loving people like yourself. But by the time we give out the allowance of food for family size, it can go quickly ...

  • Re: November Food Shopping and Cooking

Tuesday I went to food lion and spent $58. I got: milk, chicken, potatoes, oodles of noodles, pasta sides, candy corn for 44 cents lance crackers. The noodles and pasta sides are for the elderly angel we are adopting for christmas. I feel led to adopt an elderly couple and only if we have extra then adopt a child. I have seen applications for ...
