  • Re: How Does Your Garden Grow? Summer 2009 Garden Club!

It's the best time of the year...harvested our first spinach and lettuce.  I keep thinking how much I save even with my little vegetable garden...It's great fun. This year I tried different variations on planting, really am using every bit of space.  I'm thrilled to check things out on a daily basis.

  • Re: April 19 $$$ Stretching

Rain is falling here in the midwest.  Did a quick loss leader trip to the grocery store, ironed, my dh worked on the garden, I made cookies, changed the front door, put all the Easter things away, and pulled together "boiled" dinner for tomorrow evening.  Getting all these little things done will save as we start the ...

  • Re: Anybody Better Off Now?

I feel blessed that my husband and I have always been frugal and save/reuse etc.  We are both employed however, there has not been a raise in 3 years for me and 2 for him, however, I would never complain!!!!  I just chuckle when I see others at work walking in with the starbucks coffee in hand and there I am with my travel mug-and ...

  • The stories of the economy-are you encouraged? Are people becoming more frugal?

Recently, especially during the last three months, my inner circle of family and friends are being affected by layoffs and worried about their positions.  Many have been working for 25 years or more and say this is the most uncertain they have ever felt.  I'm seeing many more frugal choices being made-what is your perspective?

  • Re: Jan. 25 stretching

It was a cold day here in the midwest at -2.  Went to visit DD and went out for breakfast-it was very inexpensive and super tasty.  GREAT value.  Finished up taxes for DD and DS-they were both appreciative about getting refunds to be deposited in their college saving accounts.  I am going to go through the newspaper coupons and ...

  • Re: January 23 $$$ Stretching

Happy Friday! I am able to enjoy a few extra moments at home as I don't have to be at the office as early as usual.  Tonight for dinner my husband is making pea pods and noodles, got a great deal on the pea pods and what a treat.  Plan to skip taking my lunch today as I have a "free" coupon from McDonalds that I'll ...

  • Re: January 21 $$$ Stretching

The day flew with work and all.  I took my brown bag lunch and know it saves on calories, money, and time.  Worked on the coupons and the grocery store ads try to do this early in the week so I don't get sloppy and never get it done.  Talked to a relative today who's salary was cut in half as compared to last year-just ...

  • Re: January 19 $$$ Stretching

I'm off today for the holiday-planning to make a big pot of ham/bean soup and then meatloaf for supper.  Have a list going of the things I want to get done.  A treat to myself is time to sew and do some scrapbooking.  Planning to go to Walgreens and pick up a few bargains.  Hoping to stay focus and make the best use of my ...
