• Re: 10-1/2 qt pressure canner -- can I cook in it successfully?
I'd like also to use it for cooking.  But every cookbook that I've borrowed from the Library talks about 8-quart canners at the maximum.
I have an All-American Aluminum 21.5qt. canner, and the booklet that I received in my canner, also has a lot of recipes for meals, not ...

  • Re: Ah Auction time! You win some, lose some.

Wow CinnamonHuskies, sounds like you and the family really enjoyed that Auction. Good for you, good clean family fun, hard to come by and most families don't/won't do anything together, you all deserve a big medal. One that shows you are a "family" family. LOL Sounds like the trannys are going to eat up the profits, ...

  • Re: Loaning money

I have a sister who has a husband who "wouldn't work in a pie factory tasting pies" and that is the truth. One time her car broke down, and she called me to see if I would/could loan her some money to help get it fixed. DH told me that I could loan her "my" money but if my car broke down, who was going to loan me the money ...

  • Re: Cutting back on stuff besides food?

Deborahmichelle, My teakettle sits with water in them all the time. I always heat my dish water in them and I have found that if I fill them up when I enpty them the water gets to room temp then it doesn't take as long, or as much gas to heat them again for my dishes. I haven't noticed them rusting but when I bought the last one, (they ...

  • Re: What's up with this consumer culture?

Yes Walt34, I understand the "tuition" and all it intails. LOL I didn't realize where you were in WV. sorry but I would probably rent one too, if I were just starting out, just to see if everyone really likes it, or not. Sounds like a very good plan to me. We got hooked in an old '58 Chevy Panel truck, my step-dad owned and sold ...

  • Re: Do you think that anyone deserves a $3.7billion salary?

Well, I truely don't think that there is anyone out there, who deserves the wage of a million dollars, let alone a billion or more per year Thanks Gigi for the new perspective on life. It makes so much more sense than thinking that others are better off than I.

  • Re: What's up with this consumer culture?

I understand about knowing your limits Edey. I used to be the wife who sat in the passengers seat, let DH do all the driving and towing. When he started the job he now works at, he drives 57 miles one way and rotates every week, so.. I either had to start driving us to where we were going, or have to wait for a day after he got off work, ...

  • Re: Cutting back on stuff besides food?

Thanks CharlieB for the info. I don't need them anymore,  but it is good info to know, incase I need to  pass on this kind of info to some family members who need them still. I had never heard of the Keeper, menstral cup, if you are into saving and this sounds like it could save you a bundle in a few years, it sure would have been ...

  • Re: What's up with this consumer culture?

DH and I have owned just about any and all the types of campers you can name. 5th wheels, trailers, truck campers, pop-ups, A-liners, tents, motor homes, etc. We now own a Dodge Mini motorhome which is just a very nice glorified van. I use it to go to the store most of the time, and we use it on the weekends to go fishing, or overnight ...
