Lioness,  August is beautiful in this area. Hot though!!! I have heard a lot of complaining from my family about the recent weather. I just don't get it. I love that we get weather like this. I would love it more if I was able to ski and sled and all the winter sports again. Maybe next year... another surgery tomorrow and the 2008 season ...

  • Re: Teenagers

I didn't go through the prom thing with my daughter. She and her boyfriend were both working so I skated. But now my step daughter is going through it. I took her shopping last week.  Dh challenged me to do it all for under $250 and boy did he get a surprise. We hit every store within 35 miles and she found a beautiful, elegant ...

  • Re: The Cold Medicine Lurking in Your Cabinet

I watched a news story on this subject and the main suggestion is that otr's don't cure anything. They only mask the symptoms and since some if not most of the ingredients are considered unstable chemicals/compounds, they suggest not using them. Use a kleenex, a humidifier or vaporizer, lemon and honey, etc. Even the ...

I never broke it down before but that is a great savings. I buy my yeast in a jar so I will have to check the price difference. I rarely use my bread maker anymore. I will be using it a lot more now though. I am a sucker for Poulsbo bread but it is so expensive. I will have to try a cost comparison on it. As for the price of my machine... I ...

  • Re: Tip for saving money on grocery shopping

A list is essential. My mother just let me in on a secret she used with us growing up(11 kids) and still uses today as a low income senior. She made friends with the produce manager at the local grocery stores. She told them she wanted to take any produce at all that they were throwing out to feed our pigs. She doesn't have a pig anymore ...

  • Re: What Happened??

I use the same recipe as ariana when I am in a hurry (the munchie monster grabs me) but don't even put in the baking powder. I like my cookies a little more crispy. Works great at 375* for how I like them.
