  • Re: So how do you handle aging parents?

I wish I could say I don't have any experience in this subject especially only being 38 years of age however I can't say that.  Long story short- I have 1 sister- with muscular dystrophy.  My mother is in her 70's and my father passed away when I was 18 with the same form of MD.  I realize that when things happen I am ...

  • Re: Making own cleaning supplies today

Not really an option Julie.  I am trying to figure out ways to cut corners wherever I can financially.  My husband has become a statistic in this wonderful thing they call a recession.   So I'm trying to figure out any way possible to save a little extra money and still survive.  If anyone else has any ideas of where I ...

  • Making own cleaning supplies today

Well- I have done my first batch of cleaning supplies.  The first thing was to make the shower shiner stuff.  I found a recipe that uses the dishwasher sparkle solution, vinegar, and water.  You take 2 tablespoons dishwashing sparkle solution, 1 cup white vinegar and fill a 32 ounce container with water.  The dishwashing ...

  • Re: Unemployed... again!

The ttutoring has crossed our minds.  The second car would be a possibility except we don't have good enough credit to get a reliable car that would be good for commuting.  If he was able to get a job nearby or was mechanically inclined we could get by but we aren't so we have to make sure 2 cars are road worthy.  Overall ...

She could but living in a town of 1000 people there isn't the need for that.  We live in a poor rural area.  Most people take care of their family members and there just isn't the need for these types of things.  I have thought- like I said about seeing if there is something farming wise that they can do.  I have also ...

The kid that is going to be a senior is looking for work- but in a market where a minimum of 500 other people are looking for work in an area that has about 30,000 people population- I don't need to tell you that she isn't having much luck.  The youngest is going to detassel this summer.  I have told him he will probably have to ...

What do you think?  Should I consider pulling out the retirement and reducing the life insurance to pay off the one car?  That would free up about $265 a month.  Good idea, Bad idea- Wait and see idea.

  • Re: Unemployed... again!

Once unemployment kicks we should have enough money to cover the expenses minus the credit card payments and figuring expenses like household repairs, automobile repairs, clothing.  At that point in time I figure we will be looking at making cuts to the food expenses etc.  If August hits and dh doesn't land a teaching job he ...

Forgot to say- have checked into food stamps etc and we will probably come in just over the amount for food stamp eligibility for our state.  We basically make too much for any help but not enough to pay all the Peters and Pauls in our life.

  • Unemployed... again!

Long story short- money is tight for everyone.  Looking for ideas that maybe I haven't thought of.  Two years ago we had to purchasea house- it was a fixer upper that we got for a great price.  Our landlord had put our rental up for sale and the price he was asking was crazy for the state of the house.  (It still hasn't ...
