  • Re: Rebate Checks Should Be in the Mail by Spring

I think we will get $2400. Planning on getting new tires and brakes, setting aside some cash for garage sale season and putting the rest towards debt. The garage sale season cash will go towards clothing for the year and hopefully a few items of my wishlist.

  • Re: Charge it and pay no interest for xx months - anyone do that, then pay it off?

We used to do this often when we were remodling a house. We usually avoid it now but did do it at Best Buy for 30 months 0% interest for a TV. I know the local furniture place that offers 2-3 year with no interest will give you 5% discount if you pay cash instead of taking the 0%. I wonder how many people actually take them up on the offer.

  • Re: On opinion on cancelling a credit card

If you think you might be to tempted by them I would cancel them. If you are concerned about your FICO I would keep them or at least try to keep the 2 cards you have had the longest as length of credit history is important to maintaing a high score. • Re: Obento lunch

I make cute lunches but not quite that cute. A great site for bento style lunches is http://lunchinabox.net/ , it tells you how to do some of the fancy or traditional things. I post my lunches on one of my blogs http://www.notjustpeanutbutterandjelly.blogspot.com/ . I pack a lot of leftovers.

  • Re: 11/27 Daily Dollar Stretcher

I am eating out of the pantry so far this week. I may make a small trip but I will be spending very little this week for groceries. I listed 5 items on ebay and filled out 2 rebates.

  • Re: How to make croutons.

When I worked for Atlanta bread they would use the day old bread and all the ends and toss them with melted butter, seasoned salt and seasoned pepper and bake until lightly browned.

  • Re: Basic dinners

We have a lot of soups during the winter. I usually keep the freezer stocked with homemade chili, enchiladas, meatballs and store bought chicken tenders for easy meals. I love smoked sausage and we eat it with potatoes, in soups, with eggs and with macaroni and cheese. It keeps for quite a while if left sealed so I try to stock up whenever it is ...
