  • Do you ever feel like you have "dropped the ball?"

I am so annoyed and disappointed with myself.  I come from a family who were really self-sufficient.  While I was growing up, my parents and extended family could take care of most problems themselves.  My dad built our house and back deck, and was a wonderful mechanic, fixing any car.  If anything ever broke, he could fix ...

  • Re: Slaying the Debt Dragon in 2009

Excellent!!  So glad I could help!  You can be sure I'll be reading the fine print on EVERYTHING now.  Which I should have been doing all along, but it can get tedious. One new thing I learned about credit cards: they do offer "perks."  Say you used your card for airline tickets, and then you have to re-schedule ...
  • Re: Slaying the Debt Dragon in 2009

I just discovered something quite remarkable (for me!) and I don't know if I've just been too stupid to notice it before and everyone else has already done this, but .... As I was making a payment on my B of A  VISA  card, I started reading everything that was written on the face of the statement.  Right after the ...
  • Re: Recipe needed!

Cyn, thank you!  They are really ghastly looking, with the batter and all.  I'm thinking I should just toss them rather than put them into my body.  They look like mostly batter with maybe a wee bit of meat inside.  Not worth it!

  • Re: Recipe needed!

Thanks for all these ideas!  I was stymied because they aren't just tiny hunks of meat, they are covered in batter and are really small pieces.  It was the batter that was throwing me.  I can certainly use some of these ideas -- just needed someone else's input! Thanks again!

  • Recipe needed!

A few months ago in my Angel Food box, there was a package of frozen "battered dark meat chicken chunks."  As many times as I've stared at that package, I simply cannot think of a way to prepare these nasty looking little things.  I know there are others who get the Angel Food boxes; how did you prepare them?  I ...

  • Re: Taking kids to college

Thanks to all who responded.  It was very hard, as she is going to a school out of state (2 plane rides and 2 time zones away!!), and she had a very hard time separating.  I know she can be OK if she stays out of her own way, do you know what I mean?  But it was hard for me to say good-bye to my "baby."  Then I went ...

Anyone take their child to college recently? How did it go? I'm taking my youngest tomorrow and am SO not looking forward to it! Any advice?

  • Re: what going on ????

I live in a suburb of Houston and gas is hard to come by right now.  Some stations are completely out.  We finally have a couple stations open near me, Kroger's being one of them, and the lines seem to be normalling out a bit.  But on my way home from work, there was a line about a half mile long for a Shell station that had ...
