It really depends on your state tax rules
In Washington, we don't have tax on food (but I pay 8.3% tax on everything else)

i use a discount store for some things (biglots---they occasionally have better deals for pasta and canned fruits then the grocery store)
i use my dollar store for frozen fruit (cheaper then my walmart/winco/albertsons/safeway/fred meyer)

another walgreens run---2 diabetic meters, 2 bayer quick packs, mixed nuts, 2 cans tomato soup, coffee, cat litter, cat food, milk, oreos, peachs and green beans----still have 20.00 for the grocery budget! woo hoo (and i still have 31.50 in walgreens money) ------i know i didnt spend 16 @ walgreens this run, i lost $7 somewhere:(

quick walgreens run last night....will post totals in a little bit........spent just shy of 8 if i remember correctly, but now have 12 bottles of pain relievers, 2 blood glucose meters and mixed nuts
leaves me @ 44-8=36$ remaining for the month

i spent $ 8.50 this week on 72 marinades/dressings, 30 puddings and 4 velveta shells and cheese +3.99 for coffee+1.48 for milk, oreos, and 6 pouches of tuna

do you have a lentil soup recipe? i was gifted close to 5 pounds of them, butthe only thing i know i like with lentils is lentil soup and i dont know how to make one!

i dont have any recipes for you-----but when cooking ground turkey i add beef bullion ---the powdered stuff, not the cubed stuff--- while im cooking the ground turkey ......i have cooked it with some homemade beef stock, and that tasted yummy too
