Depending on where you are standing there are a lot of options. about 5 years ago I started putting $3 a day . $21 a week. After a year I had about $1000.I kept adding to it so that the $1000would always be there. I keep it in small bills and the envelopes are sealed in $500 increments.
However paying our bills is too serious for me to watch it drop - esp in the situation we are in now.   Maybe we can ease into doing it together.
I understand about turning the checkbook over to him. • Trimming the Budget one Vente at a time

When I first started listening to Dave Ramsey. I wondered what would happen to the economy if EVERYBODY stopped buying coffee on the way to work and packed thier lunches. What if we stayed home and ate "rice and beans"? What about the money folks Oprah has had on that told all of the 'shopaholics' to stop buying stuff. Do not ...
And I was planning to work for cash....but now I'm wondering about if that's wise.
If you are going care for their children on a regular basis look seriously into doing it right.
I will honestly say our biggest problem is still DH's spending.  He used to 'take' his OT and it was his play money.   He's getting better but it's still taking him time to comprehend that the money isn't there.   And sadly I feel like it's me he is resenting ...
