I do this same as howdah. All our drawers have bars of soap in them. I remember reading years ago that in addition to helping soap last longer it also keeps away moths and silverfish. Not sure if this is true or not but I've never had a problem with either.

In our family it is a contest to see who can save the most water. Each time our water bill goes down the difference is split evenly.
