This is the best one I have ever heard, and it's not even mine. I worked with a gal who had waitressed at one time, and you had to wear black shoes. Well, her shoes had a hole in the toe, and she couldn't afford a new pair, so she took a black marker and colored the end of her toe black to match the shoe, and you couldn't ...

I have an older relative who makes all of her own undies, bras, panties and girdles. They last for years. She told me one time that she got the patterns years ago thru the mail, you could find them on the internet nowdays.

I think that the snowflake you heard about was the "debt snowball". Its part of a debt reduction/money makeover budget plan by Dave Ramsey. You can find him at www.daveramsey.com. Interesting stuff. I borrowed one of his books from the library, he has some good ideas.

I remember a few years ago Christpher Lowell (remember him?) did a show that featured the rustic cabin style, and he used sweaters for pillow covers, and used the buttoned front down the middle of the sweater for the front of the pillow. Very cute! I bought a tapestry table runner on clearance after last Christmas in to make ...

I was shopping in Family Dollar today, and the items that I have been paying $1 for are now $1.09, $1.19, $1.29. Then I noticed that the $1 box of instant potatoes now has only 13oz. instead of 16oz., the creme drops candy is still $1, but you only get 12oz. instead of 16oz. You can't win.

Has anyone tried the sweater to mittens thing yet? I was in our only, lonely resale shop this week, and the gal there was telling me that wool sweaters are flying out the door as fast as she can get them. The idea is that you machine wash and dry the wool sweater several times until it has shrunk down, and the wool felts up nice ...

I budget $100 a week for groceries and household, thats everything we eat and all of the cleaning, personal care, vitamins, laundry, and pet supplies for 4 people and a cat and a dog. Some weeks I use it all, some I don't. We don't buy eggs, I have laying hens, and we don't buy beef, we have it on the hoof. Of course, ...

How about using it in biscuits, I have seen a french bread recipe that called for soured milk, someone already said pancakes, I have a sugar cookie recipe that calls for sour milk. If it hasn't soured enought to separate, you should be able to use it in almost any baked item. How about scalloped or augratin potatoes. Try one ...

I did finally let go of my sock darning basket. It's just not worth the effort of fixing them, when you can buy a pack of six pairs for $3 at the local big box store. I must admit, even tho I really love to sew, the mending basket is always the things of last resort. I have actually had stuff in there long enough that ...

How about some chit-chat on your best, latest, greatest sewing projects! I can't be the only person here who keeps the old Singer humming this time of year. I don't have time to sew much in the Summer, too much to do outside, this is my fabric playtime. I am making flannel pajama pants for my three teens for ...
