Pretty much the same things. Toliet paper, pantyliners, paper towels, toothpaste, dish soap, that sort of thing. I try not to go overboard, but it's super easy to stock up on these on sale, if I watch the circulars and pair the sales with coupons.
I also do the canned soup thing, so that if I'm not able to cook a fresh meal ...

How about the difficulties of time management when you're a single, frugal person? Without a spouse or even a significant other, I often can't always do as much as I'd like in terms of frugality. Ex: cooking every night and still getting all the chores done. I often have to choose, especially because I work long days ...

As a single, I find that I actually have to be much choosier about what I buy in bulk and what I don't, and that sometimes it's actually cheaper to buy the slightly more expensive, smaller container... because I'm likely to use it all before it goes bad.

Depending on the batch you get, it can be really easy to work with or a real pain. I've had some projects go smoothly (frogging was not a problem), and in others, I'd totally destroy the individual plys trying to rip out a mistake. So I've started to avoid using it.

Now, four years later, he gets as excited (if not more so) as I do when I tell him about scoring an excellent find for cheap and he sometimes even plays up my bargain-hunting skills to other people we know. It's a nice ...

My parents were very frugal as we grew up, but it was always framed as the path to having a great life without having to make more money. We always ate very, very well (homecooked meals every night, always more than enough to eat) and there was still money to splurge on fun things (my brother and I had a Nintendo, etc). I always was ...

Brandy, are there estate sales in your area? They're kind of like garage sales but it's usually a clearance of an entire household's worth of stuff. Usually it's because an elderly person has moved into a care center or because they passed away, so some people have reservations about them... but from what I've seen, ...

Thanks for the link! I came back from my LYS today very disappointed. Not only were they making changes that I didn't like but the prices have entered the exosphere! I have read about recycyling sweaters more than once, but the yarn at my LYS was usually afforadable when on sale. Now things have changed. After ...

I agree with Pat on the machine washing issue -- acrylic does fuzz up pretty fast.
Also, one of the reasons I like wool better is because a) it has spring in it, which makes the strain on my repetitive-stress injuries in my wrist less painful and b) I can block it more effectively than acrylic, which I still need to do to help compensate ...
