  • Re: Poll: Shall I save 1st for an EarthBox & plant lights, or for a freezer?

Personally I would go for the small freezer. Once you have it you can watch for sales and work on filling it up and stockpiling that way. As for which would do you more good in an earthquake or national depression that depends. If there was a national depression and your freezer was already full you could live on what is in it, and constantly look ...

  • Re: BEWARE: Home Depot's Credit Card: “No Pymts & No Int” for 1Yr

My husband and I have used this method to buy items several times in the past three years and never had a problem. We knew how the deal worked and that if we did not pay the balance off before the 1 year expired we would be "on the hook" for interest over the entire period and that it would be above the normal rate. How we work the ...

  • Re: Turnip Greens

Wash the tops throughly, remove any tough parts. Chop them up and boil them, then mix with stewed tomatoes, heat thru and serve. These are tasty as a side dish. You can also add a little garlic and some onion if you like.

  • Re: I swear, it wasn't me!

You are not the only one who has had it happen. We had it happen on card we seldom used, and I was lucky I found the charge right away within the first month. It was to "one of those sites" and I knew that neither my husband nor I would charge such a thing. I called the company that the charge linked back to and they tried to tell me ...

  • Re: Frugal Dieting Tips

Portion control is the big thing. I was able to lose 30 lbs over the course of 4 months by devising my own weight loss plan. It was easier for me because I do not have a large family that I needed to cook meals for. What worked for me was the Lean Cuisine meals that you get in the freezer department. I by the smaller ones and try to stick to ones ...

  • Re: Family physician

I must throw my two cents worth in here. I have a sister who was born a British subject as were her three children. While they do get health care provided by the government they often wait months or years for their particular case to be severe enough by government standards to receive the necessary care or procedure. An example having a gall ...

  • Re: Frugal cold sore remedies

My mother has suffered from cold sores for my entire life. The only thing I ever remember her using was a product called Camphophinique. She bought it at the grocery store or drug store and it came in a yellow package I beleive and the bottle was a transparent green glass. It has camphor in it and it also helped releive the pain. She would ...

  • Re: Dances with Debt

I agree with you 100%. My parents never gave me a car, nor did my husbands parents give him a car. We both earned our first wheels and we took care of them. Our son on the other hand has had two cars that were provided to him to drive though they have been owned by my husband and I. He has appreciated neither!  Kids really need to earn the ...

  • Re: Letting yourself "Go?"

I think the length of a persons hair and whether they color it or not is a personal choice. For me letting my hair grow long does not work. I do not look good with long hair, and I do not feel good with it long. Gray hairs make me cringe. I started getting them at age 36 and began home coloring around that time. I have since started having my hair ...

  • Re: The cost of growing your own meat

Just saw this post and wanted to reply. I grew up on a farm and we raised chicks every year. About the pecking problem, once a chick or chicks start pecking on each other it is very hard to stop them. Once they see a spot it is their nature to keep picking at it. Once thing we always did was us a RED heat lamp. What it does is cast a pinkish or ...
