  • Ideas for Planters / Pots for indoor plants?

Hi, all! I stumbled upon a great deal at Lowe's...in the "greenhouse" section of the store, they had clearanced out a bunch of houseplants that were a little worse for the wear with a few brown leaves, needing to be repotted, etc.  These plants normally sell for $6 to $10 each and I got a bunch for $1 to $2 each. NOW I am ...

  • Re: Candles--simple question

I wouldn't put a NICE candle in the freezer, because the wax could develop spiderweb cracks and ruin the look of the candle.  I do, however, keep my votive candles in the fridge, because my grandma always did, and I believe they do burn more slowly than when they are room temp, esp in the summer!

  • Re: Removing Cat / Pet Smell in old house...

Thanks for your replies everyone!  Who is the Queen of Clean? I should have clarified that the smell is much more "old" and musty than specifically cat-pee.  I wonder if there is some rotting / wet wood somewhere.  I did have a clothes washer until very recently that leaked with each load I did... I will try the black ...

  • Re: Homemade Laundry Detergent

I recently tried a recipe I found searching "Dollar Strecher Laundry Detergent Recipe" on google.  I remember having read it a long time ago, and Google helped me find it.... This is for a liquid soap that you "cook" to melt the grated Fels Naptha in the water.  I think it was about 1/3 bar Fels Naptha to ...

  • Removing Cat / Pet Smell in old house...

Hi, all! I live in a large, old house that I paid for out of my savings (yay!).  It was abandoned for a while before I bought it.  It had an open hole in the side of the house where someone had had an old vent that they did not close up...this was the entry / exit for animals, apparently.  I found out well after I bought it that ...

  • Re: Help Needed, Please. I Need To Find This Ott Light Bulb

Amazon.com has it, the link is:  http://www.amazon.com/TrueColor-Replacement-Bulb-TC10002-13-watt/dp/B001CTRDBC Cost is $13.99 + $8.90 shipping.   It also looks like Michaels craft stores carry them, so it might be a good idea to call them to see if you can order one in / pick one up at a store near you to save on ...

  • Re: Help, cat lovers!

Well, I know cats are pretty nocturnal, and I don't think squirrels are, so my suggestion, other than feeding small amounts like others have said, is to feed at night...

  • Re: To deal with flabby crackers?

Does anyone know whether freezing crackers, chips, etc BEFORE they get "flabby" or "stale" would work, or would that only make it worse?  I am single and it takes me a while to finish these foods and I HATE wasting them...

  • Re: Line-Drying

Thank you all for your replies!  My house came with an old "umbrella style" clothesline that has seen better days.  My dad and I repaired it and I do use it occasionally, but wondered if it was pointless.  Because of your positive responses, I will continue to line-dry...  I had read some statistic about how it saves ...

  • Line-Drying

I would like to hear whether anyone here has switched partially or completely over from electric drying to line drying their clothes and actually noticed any saved money on their electric bill...  Thanks!
