• Re: Soap Useage

Oh boy Brandy, you may not want to get me started talking soap! Patchouili is a very masculine scent, but my best seller for men has been peppermint. It is very refreshing in the summer and makes your skin tingle (just a little) when you open the shower curtain and the air hits you. It is inexpensive and a little bit goes a ...

  • Re: Hey Pat

I guess I would rather be outspoken and direct than to keep it all inside. I don't know how people can do that so much. It would literally make me sick to keep it all in. I feel so much better to know there are others here like me. Please don't ask me for my opinion if you don't truly want it. LOL

  • Re: How Many Real Life Hours ?

Let see, I spent an hour with my FIL at the hospital, then I spent a couple of hours with my friend, planting a garden and talking, and I spent another hour riding bikes with my 13 year old DD. I find myself increasingly turning off the tube and just being outside. I have spent far too much time in front of a TV in my life and I decided to not do ...

  • How Many Real Life Hours ?

How many real life hours did you have today ? ie., hours apart from work, daily chores, not counting time infront of PC, TV ? Real Life Hours = Time spent with people or doing some real life activity away from a glowing tube. This is an interesting concept along the lines of the number of flying hours a pilot logs. Today I had just 1 such hour. ...

Our lounge isn't mega-formal - I try to keep it nice and we retreat in there at the end of the day. Its also further from the kid's bedrooms so the TV noise doesn't disturb them. The family room is an all-purpose room that is always festooned with craft materials, toys, a laundry rack, etc etc.....

  • Re: Whole Foods Market

I've been to Whole Foods here and found that they were rather expensive on their meats. Fresh vegetables were in line with regular produce, though. Organic milk was cheaper there, but we don't live close enough to shop there regularly, either.

  • Re: Favorite Frugal Meal
One of our super cheap, comfort food, Sunday evening meals is a treat that my husband and I both grew up on. It is simply boiled macaroni added to milk with butter, salt and (lots of) black pepper - Macaroni soup. Pat
I love macaroni, but never heard of this! It sounds ...

  • Re: Re: Re: The Forgotten Me

I also hate being stuck in the kitchen alone while everyone else is have a great conversation in the living room. When we were looking for a house I wanted a kitchen big enough that we could all be in there at the same time and I can still cook. We eat our meals in the kitchen and I love it when I can be part of the conversation. ...

  • Re: Re: Re: The Forgotten Me

that's interesting, Pat. I have a bit of a theory that the (approximately) middle class have a bit of a schizophrenic thing going on where we try to live like the upper class (as though we had servants) while doing the drudge work ourselves. So wives slave away in the kitchen creating fancy meals using too much crockery.... I don't ...
