I also haven't posted an 'offer' message, haven't figured out how yet, but I've responded to 'wants', and gave away an iron and 2 cell phones with charger.

    Re: Hooray for Freecycle!

For the most part, I do like to know that my stuff is going to someone who needs it or can use it. But, to be100% honest, if I found something I gave someone in a yard sale or for sale at a flea market I wouldn't let it bother me. My main goal is to get it out of my way. That being said though, if someone wrote and said "I would like your item but I will re-sell it." I would more than likely give it to them because above all else, I appreciate honesty.

I too have had people get angry because I offer an item to someone else. Hey, it's MINE, I will give it to whomever I choose, not the first one that responds!  I have had a few nightmares with freecycle though, I offered a beautiful dresser...I just didn't have room for it. A lady wrote and told me that she could use it because her old one was all too pieces. I offered it to her and when I started asking about when she could pick it up, she asked me to deliver it.....I told her than I couldn't because I didn't have access to a truck. This woman had the nerve to tell me that if I didn't have a truck then I should be willing to rent a U-Haul and bring it to her!!!!  I went off the deep end on that one and even though it made me furious I still replied kindly that I wasn't in a position to do that. Then, I got a really NASTY email telling me what a horrible person I was! The next day, she wrote again and told me she was able to get a truck and would be here in several hours to pick it up. OK..this time I did get a little ugly. I told her that after her NASTY email from the day before that I would burn the %$#& thing first!

I can't see any of the listed stuff. If you can't see it, what good is it?

By seeing the listed stuff, do you mean the actual listing post or photos?

If you mean you can't read the posts, I believe you have to join the group to access the posts. I haven't seen photos in posts but it seems some have photos available to e-mail to those who want them.

In the case of the woman and the dresser, I think you should have reported her to the person who manages your local group. She was expecting you to go above and beyond what is normal and expected. She also abused her priveledges as a Freecycle users when she became rude to you.

I love Freecycle.  There are 3 groups within 5 miles of my house.  I get a few things and give away a lot.  When one of my kids outgrows a whole bag of clothes it's nice to find someone who can use exactly that size.
