    Matthew 6:25-34 Do Not Worry

25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

    Re: Angel Food

I have the Angel Food package of July already. There were some good foods and the dessert is fantastic if you have the same in yours.

    August's package looks good too.

Hmmm, what dessert did you get?  We got the (Pillsbury?) peanut butter/choc bars and weren't too thrilled.  The package was very small and the bars came out hard.  Last month was break and bake cookies and everyone here loved those.  We like it when we get pies, too, tho not everyone likes pumpkin - the apple crumb is a favorite.

Yep, August looks good.  Kinda curious about the shelf-stable milk - wonder how it will go over with everyone?  Our dd used to get it to take to store in her dorm, but I have to admit it has a 'canned' taste to me - I'm sure it will be fine in baking, tho...Liz

We got pumpkin pies last month and this month it was Pillsbury Turtle Supreme Bars. This is a cookie type of thing with chocolate chips, caramel drizzle and walnuts.

My state's WIC program does not use the voucher system. Recipients have to pick up packages at a center. The milk was shelf stable and my oldest developed a fondness for it so she likes when it appears in Angel Food.

Liz, shelf stable milk was all we could buy in Europe, we learned to add a drop or two of vanilla or almond extract, it really helped with the tinny or boxed taste.  : )

My experience with the shelf stable milk was add some flavor. It works great for cooking . I like having some for emergencies. Just keep track of the use by date.

Good idea on the flavorings and also checking expiry date - great storage item!  I keep dry and canned milk but the shelf-stable would be more versatile, I think.  We are planning a long weekend at the lake this weekend and I'll bet it would be good for that.

Brandy, so they give it fairly often?  We've only been getting AF about 4-5 months and not had too many duplications yet (except for the chicken...Sad_ Liz

    Re: Angel Food

I have only gotten the shelf stable milk once before so it's not a common item. Items I see often are pumpkin pie, a bean mix for soup and frozen mixed veggies.

I've been making the bean soup with ham scraps and it's pretty good.  Only thing, all the beans get done at different times, so some of them are mushy by the time the others are done, so the soup looks a little muddy - sure tastes good, though!

I mostly eat the mixed veggies.  The ones we got this month are sure in tiny packages, so much so that they gave out two packages of them. They're a pretty fancy mix.  I might pull out the carrots for dh, it's about the only veggie he'll eat, and just eat the rest myself...Liz

    Re: Angel Food

I enjoyed the mixed veggies this month but if ours are the same as yours..they have a sauce on them. This was fantastic stirred up with chicken strips and a little soy sauce.

I like the bean soup from those bags of beans but we don't eat it often enough so I have a big stack of these.
