I disagree with completely banning plastic bags. The approach to getting people to do things needs to change - instead of hitting us over the head ("thou shalt not"), do something to encourage us to comply (advertising campaign). The carrot is always better than the stick

I agree with your point. It's tiresome to always be the whipping boy after the Big Boys have had their fun.

But... if they want us to stop using plastic bags, why don't they quit manufacturing them? They could either give incentives to manufacturers or hit them over the head, doesn't matter to me, but why not shut off the source? Sounds simple to me.

And don't forget about crocheting them into floor mats, tote bags, etc.  Smile  Just when I've started to find uses for all those extra bags, they'll stop using them...

You can alway crochet with plastic bread bags, plastic bags they cover the newspaper with, plastic bags that hold produce or other products, plastic bags that cover your dry cleaning... makes me wonder why they have it in for shopping bags and allow everything else to go on.

The main thing I use them for is to line trash bags in the bathroom, kitchen, office and bedroom. If I have to buy trash bags for that, what have they gained? (Except my money!)
