    Re: Cloth diapering?

     Wow.

My kids went through 10-12 diapers a day as infants and 8 as older babies. I did disposable diaper the first two and could only use certain brands due to allergies and that didn't prevent rashes, just lessened them so I had the cost of diaper rash treatments as well. My third was even more allergic than the first two and I used cloth diapers and wipes for her at less cost than I would have spent on disposables and rash treatments.

Ds is in cloth diapers.  He is 2 1/2 and we have used them since he was 11 mnths.  I use home knitted/sewn(from sweaters) covers/pants mostly with homemade flannel diapers or prefolds with a  snappi.  Dh uses aio/pockets assorted brands.  I have 2 layer flannel wipes (8x8").

Don't use polar fleece it acts to repel not let the liquid through, but does make a good cover.  You need microfleece (the super thin stuff).

Fleece pants even the cheap ones work well as daytime weight covers.

www.diaperpin.com has tons of reviews/articles/forums and is wonderful

As the time for our granddaughter's birth is getting closer, I have made the following purchases.  I found the diaperpin website and it was full of great reviews that helped me a lot.   I bought a dozen Fuzzy Bunz, some prefolds, some Bummis Whisper Wraps and some Bella Bottoms fitted that expand from 10-30+ pounds.  I have also made covers from wool sweaters purchased at yard sales.  I'm not much of a seamstress, but I think they'll work.  Thanks for all the great advise frugal community!
