I knitted soakers for my kids when they were in diapers, too. I used plastic pants when we went anywhere, though.

Last year I crochet enough scarves for my kids to give as Christmas gifts. I made them for all of the Scout leaders too. 25-30 total I am sure.

I also make baby afgans for church, as many have said it is a stress reliever. Pending the month I usually have 2-4 done. I tend to do other things in the summer, too hot to crochet.

I have several full sized afgans in the Cedar closet awaiting gift-giving.

This year the challange is to figure out how to crochet slippers. I would love to have it be as automatic as the afgans are.

I knit soakers/shorties/longies for my son who wears cloth diapers.  I knit dishcloths, scarves, hats, and sweaters.

Wow! I have been really suprised by how many of us enjoy yarn! DH and I sat down and did our Christmas list. We decided the majority of our gifts will be yarn/fabric items and turned items. This is the first year we have been blessed enough to actually consider gifts in about 3-4 years. Our gift list includes family and friends, a total of 22 people. We calculated the cost and all of our supplies total to $167.00. That makes me happy!!! We are making scarves, hats, robes, pajama pants, 2 quilts, pens, wooden makup compacts, wine stoppers, and finial boxes.

Right now I am working on a teal scarf for my sister. I am really pleased with this one! It's a beautiful teal color.

    Pat:
Does anyone else have trouble making things for themselves? All my years of knitting were mostly for the kids.
This reminds me of my mom. She has probably sewn more than 100 quilts and wall-hangings, and barely has any for her home.

I'm currently crocheting 4 different afghans. I'm almost finished with 3 of them. They are all done in the shell stitch pattern so I don't get mixed up trying to follow patterns. They will all be for Christmas gifts this year.I was lucky and bought most of the yarn in a huge bag for a really good price at Goodwill. I just wish I had found it a little earlier in the year so that I didn't have to rush......donna

I crochet and make scarves usually. I'm making my first afghans now and about to attempt my first hat. I made a crocheted stuffed kitty for my son. I have a fairly extensive yarn stash I've acquired over the years. I add to it occassionally when I find a good deal at Goodwill. I do a little quilting and sewing from time to time. I havn't made any garments in awhile but do alot of mending. My biggest hobby is counted cross stitch. I make alot of gifts for family and friends like wedding, birth or anniversary samplers.

I have done some counted cross stitch, some small samplers and things like that. I have collected a lot of patterns from the used book store that I go to, maybe one day I can do something larger. I used to crochet a lot of doilies for my Mom ,she loved them. You can put a ribbon thru the edge of a doily and draw it up around a gift--it looks really pretty.....Donna

I've decorated much of my house in cross-stitches and afghans I've made - some of the afghans are made of such thick yarn, or multiple strands, that I've used them for rugs.  Yarn is a lot cheaper than rugs, and needlework keeps me from snacking as much while I watch TV or llisten to music, so that has secondary health benefits as well.
