What ratio of hydrogen peroxide to water is safe & effective as bleach?

Dear All, I picked up @ Whole Foods a non-chlorine bleach product called Ultra Ecover.  The jug says that it is composed simply of hydrogen peroxide & water, but doesn't specify the ratio  THe jug says that it is color-safe, deodorizes, & removes tough stains, & all of that is true.  I want to refill the jug (Walgreens has hydrogen peroxide on sale @ 50cents this week for 16 oz.).  What ratio would you start with to experiment?  I would rather use too little than too much, as I can easily imagine too much tearing holes in my laundry.  Just as with Ecover, I would use 1/4 cup to a laundry load.

    TIA.  Yours in HIm, Deb

"Vinegar and hydrogen peroxide are considered good for use in the kitchen as a spray for counters. One article recommended using H2O2 first, followed by vinegar (or the other way round as it does not matter) to get the best results."

I read that recently. Thanks for sharing the rest, it was good information.

Thank you both, Brandy & Gigi, I guess I'll just revert to using Oxyclean.  BTW, someone posted on another thread that the Swing-A-Way manual can opener has a hook on it that will open darn near ANYTHING.  Well, it opened my Oxyclean that fingernails couldn't do a thing with! Yours in Him, Deb
