    foodstamp help

Hello, I have a question. I posted in another forum that I am getting divorced and will be moving to Colorado with my 3 dd's. I will initially be living with my dad but hope to qualify and move into low income housing asap. My question is what are the income qualifications to receive foodstamps and also, since I wont be paying rent to my dad will that hurt my application? Any advice or tips are really appreciated.

Dear Tinamarie, I am sorry that I cannot help you, but each State administers its Food Stamps program somewhat differently -- they get waivers from the FDA.  AND in San Francisco, the waiting list for low-income housing where you can choose where you live (Section 8) was more than 5 years (I think it was 7 or 8) when I got in -- it may be considerably shorter inColorado (but with the economic down-turn?), but still won't be automatic.

I don't know how your children will factor in.  I do know that if they are small, you can get WIC (Women [pregnant], Infants, & Children) credit fro certain foods such as milk.

I don't know even in my state of CA how the amount of rent you pay factors in to the decision to give out Food Stamps.  I do know that they take into account in CA your utility bills.

Sorry not to be able to tell you more.  Yours in Him, Deb

I know less than Deb about food stamps but I did find the link to the Colorado food stamps page. Maybe this info will help you.

This page is an eligibility prescreen. Perhaps this too will be helpful.

we live on section 8, but before that when we lived in ca. we had "mod-rehab" apts.which is when hud gives very low intrest loans to the apt. owners to do remodeling and inprovements, in return , the apts. let low income/disable/single parents that quality lower rent,  these are not "project" apts, but  reg. apts.call the local housing authority in the county you are moving to, and ask them about mod-rehab housing, and project house(not all project  housing is bad), we were on the section 8 waiting list for 3 yrs before we got on it, but was in mod-rehab housing before that

Dear Brandy, This Luddite still doesn't understand.  Are you talking about using the tool in Windows for "mailing" a URL?  I don't see anything in our Forum messaGe pages that is an insert link -- are you MAYBE talkign about the HTML button?  Please continue to help me.  Thank you very much.  Yours in Him, Deb

Nope. When you reply to a message, there will be a bar of options above the area you will type your post in. It has the letter type changes, the smiley face for adding smilies and more. One of the options looks like a chain link. It will open a small box but is only availble if you highlight the text you want to use as a link. If you copy the URL from the site you want to share, you can paste it in the space the box will offer.

    Does that help?

Yay! I wasn't sure that I was explaining it well.

You can type other words besides the URL, they don't have to match. This is how I put links right into what I saying on my posts.
