My Christmas crafts are depressing me!

They aren't going fast enough to suit me.  I'm not speedy at handwork because of my eye sight and also the arthritis.  I really want to get through them and start on something different.  I find that I NEED to have 2 or 3 different projects going so that if one is bugging me I can move to another but I'm having to focus on the bookmark and the pillowcases right now and it's almost like work instead of doing something pleasurable that recipients will enjoy.

Crafts are hard to do when they feel like work, no matter how much you enjoy them otherwise. Maybe you need a day or two away from them? I find sometimes that I can get more done if I'm not tired or frustrated with a project and taking some time to do something else will usually help me.

That is exactly why I'm not starting on my ornaments until after Christmas.

Right now I have too much stress in my life. I am taking the time to stockpile flour for making those dough ornaments.  I want to have different types of ornaments for my tree in 2009.

    Best of luck to you.

Give yourself permission to NOT do some of them.  If you think someone will be disappointed explain to them the reasons why you couldn't do the crafts. I'm sure they will understand.  Edey

Take a break for a day or two! Craft is supposed to be enjoyable, especially when you're making theim for gifts!

If you can't finish them in time for Christmas - you could always aim for New Years!  There are supposed to be twelve days of Christmas!!!

I never even started any of my grand plans from last year! rice bags, scarves and other crochet items.   bead items.    only thing I have done is 3 dish/washcloths just because I wanted to do something!  maybe next year.

Or give them for the Feast of the Epiphany! It's also called Three Kings' Day, and in many cultures it's the day for gift-giving, not Christmas Day. It's January 6th.

OR, Dear Re-tired, give each intended recipient a gift card saying that you will teach them how to make a craft, that you'll give them the materials & stand by them, & then tehy will have something to take home, a work of their own hands ....  Yours in Him, Deb

I have finished the satin stitching of the first mongram and am almost through with the second.  Then just the outline stitching and that will go fast.

The bookmark may not get done.  It is cross-stitching on metal and #1 is hard to see #2 hard to hold and #3 stays cold so it makes my arthritis act up after about 15 minutes.

That sounds like a good project not to get done this year and maybe wait for warmer weather to work on it. Edey
