Safety pins and thumb tacks that...won't.

Good grief!  Don't they make decent safety pins that'll hold together with an extra pound or two behind them any more???  I bought a new pack and they're folding up like noodles - I can literally unfold them with my fingers!

And I'm trying to tack up some Contact paper (don't wanna use the sticky) with some thumb tacks that keep folding over.  What's up??

Where can I go to buy something that'll do the job it used to - anybody know???   Liz

I wish I knew. For every three tacks I was able to use for the Halloween decorations, I threw at least one away.

And push-pins aren't any better.  Are they afraid we'll hurt ourselves, I wonder?  Maybe a hardware store - wonder if their stuff's any better...Liz

Yes, Liz, I have never had any trouble with tacks & push pins that I've bought at an Ace hardware store.  Not to say that the newer ones might have planned obsolescence ....  I haven't bought any in the last few years, have plenty.  Yours in Him, Deb

I have found the same to be true. I can't find decent thumbtacks, safety pins or push-pins anywhere.

But at WalMart, I did find some sturdier safety pins, They are actually Basting Pins, come in packs of 20, made of brass. I only found them in the large size, but they seem as if they will hold.

What we need is some vintage stuff. That stuff lasted and lasted.

Carpet tacks I think would be stronger.  Edey
