Uh Oh! I Need to Buy Another Bookcase

It's official. I don't have enough room for the rest of my cookbooks. So.......I need to go back to Ollie's Bargain Barn and see what's available.

You just bought this bookcase recently, didn't you?  How many shelves does it have?

I've already filled the bookcase. That's why I need another bookcase. Not only do I have my cookbooks but I also have all of Mom's cookbooks. I have an 18 foot bookcase in the kitchen which is filled to the brim. Then I have my new bookcase. The two big bookcases in the living room are filled up also with books on gardening and needlework. The smaller bookcase upstairs is full also.Wink I come from a long line of readers who collect books.Big Smile

Aurora collects kitty toys. She's trying to copy me. She thinks that she needs 20 toys to 1 cookbook. I must have 100's of them as Mom bought them every time we traveled.

Believe it or not, I use all of them except the pressure cooking cookbooks and the one on dehyrating foods and cooking with them.

The only cookbooks I really don't use are the yearly editions of Cooking Light, which Mom got.

I even have a Chinese Cooking for Diabetics cookbook.

That sounds like quite a collection of cookbooks!  No wonder you need another shelf!  I only have one duplicate -- Betty Crocker which was Mom's because of the sweeter sweet dough recipe, instructions and pictures in it, inherited.  (She bought me my own newer BC cookbook when I got my first apartment.)  Everything else is different.  My favorites are the old cookbooks.  I found one just on pies.  Have a couple different ones just on breads, and many different ones on canning and preserving.  My canner can be used as a pressure cooker, but have not done that and I don't really have an individual pressure cooker cookbook, unless it's a very small one.  My dehydrator came with an instruction book on dehydrating different things.  They are wonderful to read through.

I've gotten books on making condiments in the past few years. I enjoy making things like that.

I saw a recipe recently for an Asian Cranberry Ginger Ketchup that I want to try.

    I like old cookbooks also.

My husband and I are avid readers but our collection is much smaller than it used to be. We have no bookcases currently so we have plastic tubs and cardboard boxes holding the books. I think we need bookcases, lol.

I sympathise with you. A decent bookcase is expensive.

Dear Virginia Needlewoman, If I reimbursed you for the postage, & you mailed by the cheapest route which is Media Mail, would you be willing to give up the pressure cooking cookbooks that you don't use?  I could make VERY good use of htem.  You have my email address -- or just PM me.  Thanks for even considering this rude query.  Love in Him, Deb

VNW, I was just going to ask - do you not use the pressure cooking cookbooks because the cookbooks are poor-quality (bad recipes, incomplete instructions, etc.) or because you don't pressure-cook?

is there any chance you can drill holes and add shelves? I find book cases designed for hardcover books and I have trade and pocket paperback, mostly.

Also, I pulled the not used but read/ treasured cookery books and gave them a space in the living room bookcase.
