From being diabetic during my last pregnancy, I would say the best sugarfree candy was sugarfree Dove.

    Re: My Christmas Baskets

For two friends last year I did "pedicure/manicure" baskets and I may do one again this year for my mom and maybe my 9 year old niece. I used one basket for one gift and for the other, I wrapped in Christmas wrap a larger shoe box and then lined it with bunched up newspaper and covered it with red tissue paper. Inside I put (all found on sale or free samples I had):

    • 2 colors of nail polish, a red and a lighter pink (could personalize more according to taste)
    • Emery boards
    • Hand lotion and foot lotion (scented)
    • Nail clippers
    • Gel toe-separater things (used to keep toes separated when putting on polish)
    • Jar of body scrub I picked up for $2 each (one was peppermint and one was fruity scented)
    • Fun pair of holiday socks I got at the Dollar Tree

The polish was on clearance and I got all 4 colors for $4. The emery boards were from a pack I had at home, the lotion came from my stash, the clippers I got at the Dollar Tree, the toe-separater things I got at Wal-Mart for about $1 and the rest is listed above. I spent under $10 for the basket (which was our limit for our exchange).

I wanted to also include a nail buffer or some other fun things but was at my price limit. I may start searching earlier this year. I have sample bottles and tubes of lotion at home and I still have that 20 pack of emery boards, lol. The body scrub was the big find last year and the socks just made it festive.

Brandy - My mom made baskets last year and she did a great job! It inspired me and I may do a few this year myself, but we'll see. I have almost all my Christmas shopping done so that may leave me with more energy to try it this year. If not, I definitely plan to do something next year. We'll see.

About the Dollar Tree, I had seen some small red and green Christmas baskets there a month ago. I called my mom and let her know about them because they would be a cheap basket to use. I think they still have them.

    Have a blessed day!

I have made family movie baskets before but since now my inlaws and mom etc dont' eat much sweets and don't want knickknacks I stick to special nuts as a treat.

I like the idea of movie baskets! That's a great alternative to the traditional sweet baskets.

    Have a blessed day!

Thanks for the tip! I may be able to run over there this weekend. I can always use the baskets for cookies and other treats I give to neighbors, etc.

Brandy you might want to try your local thrift stores for holiday tins.

I won't be buying tins to put cookies in, they will be store bought tins of cookies. Homemade cookies would be stale before they got to those I am making baskets for, including those I will be delivering to.

That inspires some ideas for a special basket for my daughter who is already on her own but struggling to afford the pampering items she loves. Thanks!

I add 1 avocado,1 lime. salt and dried onion 2 roma tomatos minced garlic ,ground cayenne pepper Instructions were printed on a paper and tied like a scroll with a red ribbon.

    2 tablespoons chicken bouillon granules
    1 tablespoon salt
    2 teaspoons garlic powder
    2 teaspoons ground cumin

    ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS:

1 cup uncooked long grain rice
    1/2 cup chopped onion
    1/2 cup chopped green pepper
    2 tablespoons butter or margarine
    2-1/2 cups water

In a bowl, combine the bouillon, salt, garlic powder and cumin. Store in an airtight container in a cool dry place for up to 1 year. Yield: about 5 tablespoons.
to prepare rice: In a saucepan, saute rice, onion and green pepper in butter until rice is lightly browned. Stir in water and 5 teaspoons seasoning mix. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until rice is tender.

    taco seasoning  mix recipes

    1/2 tsp. dried marjoram
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper

I have to shop within the next few days so I'll be sure to stop at the Dollar Tree and see if we have those baskets. Thanks, Julie.
