Like any other organization, the BBB has it's good points and it's not so good points. Our BBB here will help all they can if they thing you have a valid complaint. But many times, what appears to be a valid complaint to the consumer really isn't. I own my own business and in the 10 years I have been in business I have only had one BBB complaint against me. I sell items of a very personal nature and I make sure that every single customer is aware of my return policies. I state that I can ONLY take returns due to a manufacturers defect. Not only is this policy stated on my website, it is also in written form in every order that leaves our warehouse. I had a customer request a refund simply because she didn't like the product she purchased after using it. I explained all of this to the BBB and they sided with me.
However, I am a firm believer in customer service. I feel as if I take care of my customers that my financial bottom line will take care of itself. I did offer this customer the option to purchase another product at 50% off. She took advantage of that offer and has been a loyal customer ever since.
