Deb, Hopefully now you will be able to relax and get some good sleep. I know this has been bothering you. As they say, when one door closes, another one opens. God Bless you!

     Deb,

I am glad that things are looking up for you. At least you will have food to eat. It is like I tell my children, we may not have what we prefer to eat,but we do have food.

    Dear Deb

We serve a G'd that know what we have need of even before we ask it of Him.  He always provides for our needs.  I'm glad that things will be OK for you while you await your food stamp hearing.

Dear Dixie, Toni, JcrMom, & Sheila, Thank you so much for your kind words  & prayers.

I am thinking about stickign with the Jewish Family & Children's Services plan, & going off Food Stamps entirely.  We shall see.  I have always hated using taxpayer money (for the Food Stamps), & charitable giving feels much less of an "entitlement," just the word that the Government uses.  It depends upon whether the food meets my needs, which I won't know for a couple of weeks.

    Re: October Food Stamps debacle

Dear All, Yesterday's mail brought the sweetest New Year's gift I can imagine.  Get this (from Food Stamps):

"Effective 11/1/08, your Food Stamps beneits are changed from $14 to $176 each month.

    "Here's why:

"Your medical care deduction has changed.  When your medical care deduction changes, the amount of Food Stamps you are eligible to receive changes."

This November reinstatement proves to me that I'll win the hearing for October.  If I were to accept Jewish Family & Children's Services food in October, there would have to be a deduction for it, which would complicate things unduly.  SO, I have made a 180-degree change, have phoned JFCS, & requested that I NOT receive food today.  (I had to leave a message because of the holiday.)

I know that I am sockign it to the Taxpayers, but it is more pleasant to select & cook/bake my own food -- I have no real excuse.

    Yours in Him, Deb

Deb, This is wonderful news and I'm so glad you were able to hang in there. You are far more responsible in handling that $176.00 and are worthy of the benefits. Again Bless You! Toni

Deb- great news.  I think you really enjoy cooking and I think you should  feel just fine in getting the stamps and taking care of your health but providing yourself with healthy kosher food, prepared at home.

Have fun shopping!  I'm sure you are very relieved.
