    homeschool

My husband's company makes standardized tests for schools. His part is to 'correct' them. On Math questions, which have a

straight forward right or wrong answer. You wouldn't believe what they 'accept' as a correct answer. The obivous wrong answer

if the math is done right, the numbers written backwards, assuming the student meant to finish putting another number but just

didn't,etc. It takes 2 days of training to learn what they accept as the right answer. I call it making wrong answers right. So not

only do teachers teach to this test (which I admit most don't like to but have to since funding is involved) but it shows nothing,

helps educate no one and is a complete waste of time and HUGE money. Just like everything else about government, their

solutions solve nothing and create problems. Standardized test show nothing more than an everyday test in the classroom

would. What difference does it make what someone else knows compared to you? Does that make you any smarter or dumber?

If schools would just teach academics(their job) and not worry about social issues people could safely send their kids to school

and not home school. It's a shame people have to do the schools job. Now, they have to worry about the law. Where's the law

when it comes to schools not doing their job? I bet we each can name a person or 2 where the public school seriousily failed them.

Can we sue to close them down? I'd like to see the schools improve and not attack successful parents doing their job for them.

I wasn't talking about the kids needed 2 days,it was the 'readers' people who correct the test. Instead of being straight forward right or wrong it takes at least 2 days of training to learn what the state accepts as a correct answer even in Math. Math is right or wrong no 'accepting' to it.
