    Poll: Coupons

For those just starting to use coupons, finding useable ones can be a problem. Even if you use coupons often, finding the right ones that will really help your food bill can be a challenge.

Where do you get the best coupons?

    • Coupon trains or round robins (3.8%)
    • Local or regional newspaper (61.5%)
    • Magazines or other publications (11.5%)
    • Manufacturer's web site (11.5%)
    • Online coupon sites (11.5%)
    • Total Votes: 26

My best coupons come through the mail, but they are not coupon trains.  30% off for items that are already 70% off is a deal worth investigating.  A $10 coupon without needing to spend a penny is a deal.  $10 gift coupon offer for taking in a new script or for transfering a script is a deal.  Love deals.

I did the manuf. website since I actually tend to write to them to get coupons mailed to me. Most stores don't take internet ones so getting by snail mail is the best deal for me, directly from the manufacturer.

    Re: Poll: Coupons

Dear All, I go through the local free paper (3-6 are left over after distribution, left in the outside vestibule), & pick out the few coupons that I can use myself.  (Most are for health & beauty aids, which I don't buy very often.)  Then I send the rest to MichelleCinnamonHuskies, who so kindly & diligently works the Coupon Trains out for this Forum.  Sometimes I get coupons from magazines for her as well.  Yours in Him, Deb

    Re: Poll: Coupons

I get them from the paper or online.  So far I've not had any problems using online coupons and, really, I think grocery stores should get over it!  If the manufacturer doesn't like it, they can just pull the coupon.  Anyways... if I know something good is coming out and the coupons can save me at least $5 I will buy a second newspaper.  $5 is twice the cost + some extra for gas cost to get the paper in the first place.  If there's only one or two coupons that I'll use, I just get one paper and call it a day.  I haven't tried buying coupons yet, but I've been considering it.  DH is adamantly opposed to it, but he's skeptical about anything for the first 5-10 years it comes out.

Okay, yes, that was some sarcasm, but he really is very skeptical!  LOL

Which online coupon sites do people like? I usually get a couple of coupons out of my weekly paper, but there's not that often stuff I buy with coupons there. I'd love to find an online site for coupons for stuff I actually use.

Hi: Locally, I get coupons in the mail for $10 off of a week's groceries. Have to purcahse $30-$45 to use the coupons. Other stores accept the $10 coupon as a Competitor's Coupon. I can also use mfg. coupons with the order too.

One insurance company offered a $10 gas card for getting a quote from them. I took their insurance since they saved me $200 a yr. on my house insurance. A local new housing development offered a $25 gas card for coming to see their new houses and filling out an application. The discount pharmacies, such as CVS and Rite-Aid have offered up to a $30 gift card to use in their store for transferring a prescription. One grocery store did the same with the pharmacy in their store.  It is nice to have competition so customers  get high dollar gift cards or gas cards. In one month, I got $55 in gas and gift cards.

Check this site to find some coupon sites.  I have used Coupon Master, Coupon Clipper and Coupons.com.  You will of course  need a printer.

Hi: Instead of buying extra papers, why not ask your friends for their Sunday paper coupon inserts. I do that and get many each week. So, when an item is on a great sale, I have many coupons. This summer, I got many bottles of mustard free. It was on sale for $1, first the small bottle of French's, then the big bottle. I had $.50 coupons. One store doubles them up to $.60 and another store doubles them up to $.50. I sure stocked up have 20+ in my pantry now.
