I don't believe in eating at tables. If I did have one in any of the places that we lived, I'd just put stuff on it, like the computer or plants or jigsaw puzzles.
I believe in armchair dining. And you have a little endtable in your corner for condiments and reading materials, napkins, a lamp, etc. In one temporary place we lived in we had no furniture and ate sitting on beanbag chairs along the living room walls.
I do somehow now have a large glass-topped mahagony table with 6 chairs that I somehow bought for some reason, but have never eaten at it and probably never will. It has various cartons and packing boxes on it. See Stocking Up. This is all in keeping with these Weird Single Behavior threads. I feel like I'm among friends here.
It's nice that you can watch birdlife and so forth while you eat. I have wrens and such coming and going through the area and pecking at God-knows-what on the sill of the computer room window. Drive the cat nuts. And doves that come and take one bite out of a cherry tomato and then go on to the next.
Once we had an apartment in Ohio on the flightpath of the Monarch butterflies. We saw them once each way. That was the best!
