My Seiko automatic watch band broke today. It can't be mended. I am going to take myself to Prime Outlets in Williamsburg on Wednesday and buy myself a brand new Seiko watch at the Seiko Factory Store. I am not a happy camper, but I have the money for a new watch. In 2007 my aunt gave me a very generous check for just me. She yells at me because I won't spend it. I bought a new computer last fall with part of the money.

Please do not think that I'm bragging being able to afford a new watch. It's been a bad week and I hate to spend money---my money or Mom's money. If I get myself one of those no battery needed Seiko watches I will be happier than if I get myself a less expensive watch. The watch recharges under lights or in the sun.

FYI: The watch that broke was given to me around 1992-1998 by Mom. I just can't remember when she got it for me.

I may decide to take myself out for something special to eat. It's been one of those weeks when chocolate is a necessity. I sure wish that I lived near one of you so we could go to Ben & Jerry's & I would treat you. Once in a while I do permit myself to spend money on things like ice cream or chocolate.

I've been contacted about Mom ever since Monday. They took her off the drug that kept her calm last week. Yesterday she was written up twice. Today she got written up again. I have been told that the nursing home doctor will be seeing her tomorrow. I'm Power of Attorney for Mom.

Last week the phones screwed up. July 25th is when the guy from Verizon will show up.

Do you live close enough to join me in Williamsburg? If you have to eat Kosher, we could go to Baskin-Robbins. I'm not wealthy, but I could swing treating you to a glass of iced tea.

Why don't you save some money and just buy a new band?  It's much cheaper.

I normally would've done that, but the watch was on its last legs. I hadn't posted that part of the story. This watch was the one I wore daily. It had stopped keeping time correctly and could not be repaired. I asked about it while I was looking at watches yesterday. The watch I purchased is appropriate for all occasions.

I have several other less expensive watches that need batteries and new straps. I will get the batteries for them along with new straps  later on. They have faces like Garfield on it.
