    July Food Stamps

Yesterday, the 1st, I started out with $197.70 on my debit card ($162 for July, with the overage from June).  I went to Whole Foods yesterday, & spent $64.70.  This leaves me with $133.00.

Do you ever get a hankering for one kind of food?  I'm that way with yoghurt now, & will be buying 32 oz of vanilla ($2.50) every 2-3 days for a while if things keep on like this!

I bought pickles, instant oatmeal, apricot nectar (to mix with grapefruit juice), red chard, green pepper, yoghurt, eggplant, 3-kinds shredded soy cheese (for some reason, was cheaper shredded than in the brick), Braeburn apples, frozen cherries (cheaper than fresh -- as I've commented many times, frozen produce is cheapest when the fresh version is in season), chopped dates (this was the last item I needed for the fruit cake recipe that Michelle Brianschef posted some months back.  I'm going to muffin it to give out at holiday time.  The ingredients were expensive [for my budget], so I just bought one/month.), a can of sweet peas, a jar of roasted red peppers (cheaper to use one piece in a dish rather than to buy a whole red pepper fresh), sunflower seeds, blue agave sweetener, fresh sauerkraut, paprika, cottage cheese, & a mini watermelon.  BTW, they have discontinued selling bulk herbs, spices, & teas, but their packaged goods are STILL much lower priced than they are at Cala/Ralphs/Kroger.

Deb, sounds like a good trip! Smile

As far as the yoghurt, there's a whole lot worse you could be craving! I get the same way at times with the yogurt. (I love Stoneyfield's French Vanilla Fat Free despite the price I pay).

Thanks, Luvd_Lioness, If you ever get to a Whole Foods store, try their non-fat vanilla yoghurt.  It's heavenly.  Yours in Him, Deb

Walked to the grocery store today (I still don't like shopping there but have no choice sometimes)...

    • 6pk of Dr. Pepper bottles $2.25
    • Pt. of fresh blueberries $2.00
    • frozen strawberries (not sure of size) $1
    • apple smoked turkey slices from deli (2) $1.20
    • store brand hot dog buns $.99

Now down to $8.61 until 7.14 ... I should be good and might carry over a balance.

Dear All, I went to Safeway this morning, & spent $26.70, leaving $106.30 in my debit account.

I bought B1G1 instant oatmeal, 3 cans of peaches, 6 on sale of the only brand of Kosher sardines that isn't priced like gold,  tomato paste & sauce, frozen lima beans, & Morningstar Farms corn dogs & sausage links (soy).  The receipt says that I had $11.44 in club card savings.  (Just the tomato sauce & the lima beans were at regular price.  I'm low on t. sauce, so I bought one anyhow.)

    Re: July Food Stamps

Dear All, I shopped at Walgreens & at Whole Foods today.  My starting balance was $106.30.  I spent $11.46 at Walgreens on 7 oz of Taster's Choice coffee & 3 - 15oz cans of pink salmon.  That left me with a balance of $94.84.

At Whole Foods, I bought soy bratwurst, a lb of raspberry granola (bulk) @ $3.29, a quart of vanilla yoghurt, bulk popcorn, whole wheat pita bread, canola mayo, 3 cans of tuna, whole wheat spaghetti, Old Bay seasoning (on sale), & an ear of corn -- the price has finally decreased from 50 cents to 33 cents.    I bought 3.75 lbs of popcorn (was eyeballing 4 lbs) because I anticipate its price increasing from 99cents/lb to whatever when the current dessicated crop is empty.  (I use 2/3 cup or more every week.)  I spent $28.52, & have a balance of $66.32.
