    Hello

    Hi,

I'm new to this community.  I've been a visitor for several months now and really enjoy reading everyone's posts.  I decided it's time for me to join and introduce myself.  I've been widowed for over seven years.  My husband and I had five children (four living).  The kids are now grown and all in their twenties and giving me grandchildren to love and spoil.  My one regret is that my husband of 26 years died of cancer before the first grandchild was even born.

I work six months out of the year but next year I'm planning to quit and just enjoy being 'grandma' and spending as much time as possible with the kids and grandkids.  Life is too short to miss out on the special events in the little one's lives.

Welcome!  I love my mom being a grandma now -- she gets so much joy from my daughter.  Grandmas really know how to spoil, too!  Whenever we go to my mom's house, my mom will ask me if something is okay and I just say, "Grandma's house; Grandma's rules!"  Even though I know it will be a good 20 years before I'm a grandma I'm already excited about it!

    Welcome HumbleHuman ~

I am sorry to hear of the passing of your husband.   As a former funeral home intern, I have always known that "even 7 years" is still quite a short amount of time and hope that you are doing okay.   I am sure that he is missed but is looking down and smiling at all the wonderful things you continue to do.

I don't have any children of my own yet ... I guess I am one of those people that know it just isn't for me.  My ability to hang with friends, go places on a whim and travel is something I cherish.

My Mom did daycare for 18+ years so those kids are like my brothers, sisters and nephews and neices.  My two full brothers are 24 and 18 so I won't be surpirsed if in the next few years I'll be Uncle Matt.

Enjoy the forum and I look forward to your posts!

Welcome to the community!  As a fellow grandma, I know what you mean about not wanting to miss out.
