    I Rediscovered The Dollar Tree

I occassionally shopped at The Dollar Tree for gifts or small household items. I saw that there was one in the same shopping center as the grocery store I do most of my shopping in. I had not dropped in yet to check out the differences and now I am sorry I waited so long!

I am now near to one of those larger Dollar Trees that some of you have mentioned. It doesn't have daiy or fresh produce but it does have a cold foods section and it has more aisles and useful things than the one I shopped at previously.

I was missing out on some discount shopping! I plan to go back and see what good finds there might be to add some decorative touches to the house and yard. There are also some great educational supplies. The bargains I walked out with when I did go in was snack foods and soap so I'll likely stop in there for these items.

The dollar tree is the green sign right? LOL.

We have them in our area. I love them and go often. Here are the items that I like there:

    - best place for party supplies and decorations. At least ours has a really great selection.

    - just like most dollar stores, they have cheap cleaning supplies and household items

    - nice seasonal decorations and gifts (like stocking stuffers and such)

    - great snacks! For instance, my husband likes sunflower kernals. Well, those things are darn expensive in other stores! Well, they have a brand there that's only like $1 a bag and it's a good size bag. He'll eat off of one bag for a while. And they taste just the same.

    God bless,

    Julie

Brandy, the Dollar Tree is my favorite dollar store. We also have one next to the grocery store that I shop at the most. I tend to only want to go in with a set amount of cash. It's hard for me to make a list for Dollar Tree b/c there are so many things and things tend to change. I purchase some personal hygiene products there (comparing with Walgreens and coupons, of course), stationary and supplies, party sacks and gift bags, small toys for rewards for DS, some food items, CANDY, cleaning products (but not in quite a while since I am trying to just use vinegar and baking soda).

Things I happened to find that were a good deal: shower curtain liners, small compact umbrellas, hooks that have suction cups that i use in the bathroom, baskets, foil baking trays, dishtowels, washcloths, picture frames, CANDY. Most of these things I found when I went in to buy something else and just happened to see these.

I can get off-budget at Dollar Tree so I really try to just take cash and see what I can get for that.

    Hi Brandy,

I'm not familiar with Dollar Tree. Everything is a dollar, right? Do they have specific aisles for stationary, seasonal, etc.? The dollar store here always has great seasonal stuff for decorating outdoors. I like the small stone animals and metal garden stakes and you can get some great garden tools, too.

Yes, I have also found some fun seasonal outdoor decorating things. I have several cute metal garden stakes (butterflies and dragon flies) that peep out from in between bushes, etc. I bought both at the Dollar Tree.

Yes, this is the popular store where everything is a $1. I don't think there are any other stores in the area still offering those prices, they have closed one at a time.

The one I recently visited does have an aisle for each type of thing like seasonal items, crafts, educational, snacks ect and sometimes more than one aisle. The one I shopped at previously was smaller with less to offer.

I still need to decorate the house and I am hoping I can find some nice spring things to work into my daughter's room.

Re: I Rediscovered The Dollar Tree

Ive noticed that at our Dollar Tree in New Hampshire the best time to shop is about an hour before closing time on Sunday night.

From what I have seen, they are re-stocking the shelves and all of their newest shipments are in.   The Sundays that I have gone in it's quiet and I don't have to "deal" with everyone crowded in the aisles and can look at items at my leisure.

I have been very impressed with the selection of items.  I always buy paper napkins, Awesome cleaner and a brand of spray for fabrics thats much like Febreeze.   Ive noticed too that I can buy 3 pair of socks for $1 and they haven't torn apart in the laundry ... yet LOL.   I also by incense and greeting cards are 2 for a $ 1.   Big savings there!!

At one point they had a survery asking if we wanted to increase the size of our store ... I voted YES YES YES ... especially with a college right down the road they are going to be in business, I would guess, indefnitely!

I love my Dollar Tree, we buy aseptic packs of soy milk(1 liter)for $1 each.  We usually stock up on one or two cases(24), canned tomatoes(Muir Glen Organic 28 ounce can), canned puddings(lime and lemon curd also), and cake fillings(apricot, raspberry, date, peach, different nuts, even blueberry once), artificial sugar packets(150 per box), instant coffee, crackers of all kinds, snack foods, juices, jerky, pet food and toys, tin foil(Reynolds), waxed paper, plastic wrap, sandwich bags, snack bags, socks for me(yup 3 pair for $1 and I have had them 18 months no issues yet), gift basket items galore, hair products, cake mixes, cupcakes mixes, refrigerated pepperoni slices, sliced cheeses, TP(for Brian), laundry soaps(powdered), the list is endless!

We go once every 2 weeks to stock up our pantry, always finding something different to entice us to return!  LOL

That sounds very much like our Dollarama here. Depending on the theme of your daughter's room, you should be able to find some nice things for it.

Re: I Rediscovered The Dollar Tree

I love it for the odd stuff they have. They get stuff in that didn't sell elsewhere. A few weeks ago I got boxes of six dozen pencils for a dollar each. They were good quality ones and I was able to give eight dollar boxes of pencils to each of my daughters' seven teachers for very little money.
