True Story: Lowering your credit card interest rates

    Wow I love this board.

About 1 year ago I called all my credit card companies asking for a lower rate on my credit card balances.  Most did little to nothing in helping me lower insanely high rates.  With the recent credit crunch, I called back in April 2008.  Guess what?  ALL OF MY CREDIT CARD COMPANIES were able to lower my rates, some even extended 0 percent balance transfer options and raised my credit limit.  Taking advantage of these special offers, I now have a little breathing room to get back on track paying off my debt.  Have you noticed anything similiar?

Re: True Story: Lowering your credit card interest rates

Hi,  I did the same a couple of years ago.  The credit card companies would lower my interest rate, then a few months later jack them up again!  I got tired of playing their games and entered a DRP with Consumer Credit Counseling.  I was never late on a payment but my payment record didn't seem to matter.  I wanted to get the cards paid off but couldn't make any headway with interest rates so high.  I don't suggest everyone do this of course and maybe now the credit card companies are more willing to work with their customers. I think since Congress is looking more closely at  their "practices", they are treating their "valued customer" as valued customers!
