    Walgreens.....

I finally decided to do a web search for walgreens and did a search using the store locator in order to determine if I could find one nearby.  I found stores in the cities just south and just north of us, so it is doable.  Never having shopped there I have to ask.  How do register rewards work?  i have heard so much about them here on the DS.  I looked at walgreens online ad, and thier prices seemed a little ho-hum, not great but not horrible either.  The prices after store coupons were decent to good.  So my questions are:

    1. Do they accept manufacturs coupons as well as in-store coupons and can use them together (ie 2 coupons, 1 product?)
    2. How do register rewards work?  Do you get them at every purchase?, Or do you need to buy certain products, do those product change?
    Thanks guys!

    Hey Amy!

    1. They accept both types of coupons, and you can use them on 1 product.  You can even use your register rewards on them too!

    2. You get Register Rewards when you buy certain products.  It spits out a receipt with your RR on them, like CVS's Extracare Bucks. For example, this week they have a ton of cleaning supplies, make-up, toiletries and feminine supplies on sale at our Walgreens that are eligible for RR (it shows which ones in their weekly circular/flyer).  If you buy 3 items $4 RR, 4 items $6 RR, 5-8 items $10 RR and 9+ is $20 RR.  You can use them same as cash at Walgreens.

So this Friday I plan to go get:

    • 3 deodorants (3/$10 and our normal brands)
    • 2 pkgs of Always (2/$10 my normal brand)
    • 2 pkgs of Magic Erasers (2/$5 I use them constantly)
    • 2 bottles of Cascade (2/$5)

So I'll spend $30, but I'll get $20 back in RR to use next time. And its good because these are all things we normally buy.

     Thanks!

So... I'm assuming that you are better off buying say 9 items in one purchase and another 9 in a seperate purchase if you are buying a large quantity, or will it be 40 RR for 18 items?

I've tried Walgreens once & it didn't work for me. The sales prices didn't ring up correctly & the register coupons expired within 2 weeks. Since its out of town, I can't shop there that often. CVS gives you a month to use your extra buck coupons & its closer for me. Many are able to get excellent deals at Walgreens. Hope it works out for you.

Buy 9 in one and 9 in another to get the $40. Smile

Amy, it is different every week and actually, Im not sure they have them every week. This week was on a lot of cleaning and beauty products. Then there was one on 12 packs of pepsi. They always list them in their flyer. Not sure if they are online. The register rewards do have an expriration date on them. Normally about two weeks til they expire. Hope this helps. Babs

Dear AmyC, Walgreen's here in San Francisco accepts manufacturers' coupons coupled with store coupons.

However, we have no such thing as "register rewards" here.  It sounds great, so I wish that we did ....

All of this discussion reminded me of what Walgreen's (& Rite-Aid) here in San Francisco DO have, & that is rebates.  They work just like grocery rebates from Sunday circulars.  You can do R-A rebate requests online, but the R-A prices on most things far exceed those at W's.

Amy, you can get your local store flyer if you go to the Walgreens website and put in your zipcode. It'll tell you what's on register rewards that week in the flyer. Smile
