I have to wonder, however, what they are considering "debt".  I am way over the $30,000+ average they assign to each American... but my debt consists of 1st and 2nd mortgage, student loan, car loan.  That's it.  That's a little different  than someone who has $30,000 or more in credit cards.

Sorry... I was at work, and didn't have the time to read over it carefully; I just looked at the numbers and the per person breakdown. 

Thank you Arianasilver for these wonderful websites.  What is scary is the price of food going up so high.  I have always had a budget and pretty much stick to it.  However these prices has thrown me for a loop.  I am going to start to wash my clothers by hand a little at a time.  That will cut down on my laundry expenses and can use that towards food. Seems as though we are going through a depression instead of a recession. There is also a rumor going around where we will have toll roads when using the freeway.  Bottom line is everything is going up except our wages.  What I don't understand is when food is starting to age why don't they sell it cheaper.  I heard a Viet Nam vet speak once at a convention and he said that when people were not buying rice at the prices the markets wanted they would dump the rice in the ocean!  That is so cruel.  So what are we doing with fruit and vegetables that are starting to go bad here in America?  Thank you for your replies.

Dear Justice, At many mom-&-pop produce stands here in San Francisco, CA, older produce is bagged & sold for a dollar, ready for canning or otherwise (freezing or drying) prdeserving immediately.  HOWEVER, few of these small stores accept Food Stamps, so I do not shop at them.  Yours in Him, Deb

Wow-that site is beyond scary  . . . honestly made my heart race!  I sat here for only a minute or so and watched it increase by $1 million!!  Is this really true?!  Our debt load is increasing at a rate of about $1 million a minute?

So how is it that us simple housewives can figure out a budget and generally stick to it but these big wigs in Washington with all their advisors can't keep our country out of a financial hole like this. It boggles the mind.
