    Dollar Stores

Just out of curiousity, how many different dollars stores are there? In our (USA) mid-west community (pop. 20,000) we have a Family Dollar, Dollar Tree, and Dollar General. I've never heard of some listed in this forum such as Dollarama. Are there some dollar stores located only in specific regions? While we're on the subject, I often hear about the warehouse Costco stores, are they only in the west part of the US?  We have many of the Aldi food stores here, but this store apparently isn't located in some states. Is Fred's a dollar store?  (Don't know of any in our region) Anyone know of a web site that might give a location list of bargain stores for us thrifty shoppers?

Perhaps I should E-mail Marlene for an answer. She does have a web site specifically for dollar stores.

I live on the East coast, and we have a Costco right across the streets from Sam's Club.  Another Dollar store for ya:  Mighty Dollar

    Re: Dollar Stores

In Canada we have Costco and Sam's Club. The two major dollar stores I know of are Dollarama, which is based in Quebec and Buck or Two. There used to be one called Loonie Lizard, too but I haven't seen one in our area for some time. And, of course, there are always the independent dollar stores but they seem to struggle to survive.

In short, I think it all depends on where you live, what bargain stores you have. Some of the ones mentioned here like Mighty Dollar, I've never heard of before.

We dont' have Sams club on the west coast. We have just Costco. For dollar store chains...Dollarama, Dollar Giant, Loonies Plus and a bunch of independant stores. Don't know if everything for a dollar chain is still open. The one in my local mall closed.

We used to have Everything For A Dollar, too but I haven't seen any around here lately, either.

    Re: Dollar Stores

One of the employee's when the store was closing out told me the whole chain of stores was closing. I wasn't sure if it was just that store because Dollarama was opening in the mall next to it.  It is a small mall so they can't have two dollar stores in it. Plus there are two dollar plus stores outside the mall.
